How can therapy help me?

There can be many goals for the counseling relationship. Some of these will be long term goals such as improving the quality of your life, learning to live with mindfulness and self-actualization, and/or resolving deeply rooted trauma. Others may be more immediate goals such as decreasing anxiety and depression symptoms, developing healthy relationships, changing behavior or decreasing/ending drug use. Whatever your goals, they will be agreed upon by you and your therapist. The therapist may make suggestions on how to reach each goal, but ultimately you are in control of what you achieve.

How long does therapy last?

Each therapy session is scheduled for 50 minutes. The overall period of time you spend working with a therapist , varies for each individual. Some may find that three to six months is sufficient in helping them recover from a recent life stressor, major loss, or significant life event. Others, aiming to address past trauma, or deeply ingrained psychological patterns, may require a longer amount of time engaging in the therapeutic process. Rest assured, you and your therapist will regularly assess if it is the right time to conclude your therapy sessions.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. In the event that your clinician recommends medication services, a referral will be made. Your clinician can work along-side your psychiatrist to ensure your needs are being met.

What is your cancellation policy?

When scheduling an appointment, a specific time slot is reserved exclusively for you, agreed upon by you and your therapist. Your therapist will try their best to accommodate any changes you may need, provided you give a minimum of 48 hours' notice for rescheduling or cancelling. Missing a session without 48 hours notice will result in our cancellation fee being charged to the card on file (more details will be provided on our Billing Agreement form upon intake). If you miss more than five sessions within a year, you may be subject to termination of services.

Is the information I share in session kept private?

Yes. The information shared during your sessions is kept confidential, except in specific situations where information is reported or collected to include:

an immediate threat of harm to oneself or others,

suspicion of abuse towards children, dependent adults, or elders,

court subpoenas or legal proceedings involving your mental health.

Rest assured, your therapist will go over these details and our office policies with you in your first intake session.

Can I contact my clinician directly once assigned?

Yes. Your counselor will provide you with a personal voicemail phone number that you may leave confidential phone messages at any time. You will also be provided with your our front desk and your clinician’s email addresses during the intake process, in case you have any questions along the way. We will do our best to communicate back with you within 2 business days, if not sooner. To preserve your confidentiality and abide by HIPAA standards, your counselor will not leave you a return voicemail or discuss anything with someone else beside yourself who may answer your telephone unless you have given specific permission to do so. The Practice at Evergreen is not an emergency clinic, so if you are in crisis or need immediate attention, please call 9-1-1 or the Crisis Team at: 209-742-7000.
